Andrew has practiced law in Columbia, South Carolina since 1989. He began as an associate and then was a partner with Nauful & Ellis, P.A, which later became Ellis, Lawhorne, Davidson & Sims, P.A. In 1998, he was a founding partner of the law firm of Davidson & Lindemann, P.A. In 2018, he left that firm and formed Lindemann & Davis, P.A., with Jim Davis. Upon Jim’s retirement in 2022, he formed the Lindemann Law Firm, P.A.
Andrew has a wide-ranging civil defense litigation and appellate practice. One of his primary areas of practice is governmental liability defense where he represents state governmental agencies, counties, municipalities, and school districts as well as their officials and employees in both Section 1983 and South Carolina Tort Claims Act litigation. He also has a private insurance defense practice, where he represents companies and individuals in a variety of areas including premises liability, medical malpractice, products liability, and personal injury cases. He has tried numerous cases in both state and federal courts in South Carolina, including before the Circuit Court, the Probate Court, and the Administrative Law Court. Andrew also represents insurance companies in insurance coverage disputes including the prosecution and defense of declaratory judgment actions.
Andrew has more than 28 years of experience handling appeals in a variety of state and federal appellate courts. He routinely submits briefs and appears at oral argument before the South Carolina Supreme Court, the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also filed and defended numerous petitions for writ of certiorari before the United States Supreme Court, and in 2003, Andrew had the distinct honor of presenting oral argument before the United States Supreme Court in the case of Jinks v. Richland County. He has over 40 published decisions and over 150 unpublished decisions from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Andrew also has over 130 published decisions from the South Carolina appellate courts.
Andrew is licensed to practice law in South Carolina and North Carolina. He is also a member of the bar for the United States Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He was recently recognized by Best Lawyers and has also been named a Super Lawyer for several years in the categories of Appellate Practice and General Litigation.
Andrew grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. After high school, he attended the University of Virginia and graduated in 1985 with a B.A. is History. In 1986, he returned to his home state to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law. He graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1989. While in law school, he was a member of the South Carolina Law Review.
Outside the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is known to enjoy a good road trip. His family has traveled to all fifty states - all by car (except for Hawaii of course). He is particularly fond of the memories of a month-long road trip from Columbia to Alaska in 2011. Andrew is also a huge sports fan in general and enjoyed coaching youth baseball at Trenholm Little League when his son was younger.
